Batch Returns is an easy way to use the new
Industry Returns Initiative. Instead of waiting for a publisher’s rep. to
authorise returns you can simply send a list electronically from the Batch
Returns website and get an answer within a few hours.
There is no need to provide invoice
numbers, just list the ISBN of the book and the quantity if it is higher than 1.
10 Step Guide
- Select the supplier from the drop-down list.
- Enter the ISBN’s (and quantity separated with a
comma if you wish, the default is 1)
- Click on Next and the title information is
shown so you can be sure you have entered the correct books.
- You then can send the list to the supplier by
clicking on the Send to supplier button. You can enter a six digit
reference if you wish just above the send button.
- The message is processed automatically by the
supplier and an answer is sent back within a few hours.
- Next time you log on you should see a message
telling you how many messages you have in your Inbox. Click on Inbox to
see the answer form the supplier.
- To see the detail click on the ‘+’ symbol on the right of the
page. The next stage is for you to confirm the exact number of books being
returned. This is so the supplier can calculate your credit automatically.
To get to this section click on the words ‘reply here’. You can produce a printer
friendly picking list that separates the authorised returns form the
unauthorised ones.
- After clicking on ‘reply here’ you are on the Confirmation page,
if the quantity being returned is lower than the number authorised,
enter the new figure in the quantity adjusted column. Then click on the
confirm this return button.
- Enter the number of labels you require or put a
tick in the box and produce un-numbered labels. To see the labels click
on the show labels button. The label has a barcode that the supplier
uses to pick up the confirmation, of the books being returned, that you
sent.
- Sit back an wait for the credit, it couldn’t be simpler!
